This is an ex-factory demonstrator according to British Motor Heritage. It has only two other private owners before me and before I purchased it, it always lived in the Birmingham area. It's in very good original condition, with all the usual features of a MKI Mini. It was protected with some sort of waxoil type coating from an early age, which has kept it fairly solid and rust free -although it did have to have the statutory new front end - (see pics) including A-Panels,plus new doors and hinges. The floor has been replaced fom fron to back on both sides, including new inner and outer sills. Kermie has completely re-painted, in it's original Almond Green, plus the addition of an Old English White Roof, (not very original, but a period modification - that consoles me and I'm sticking with it!). The engine has been dis-assembled, degreased and re-painted, and is currently being re-built, with new gaskets and seals etc. The shotblast front sub-frame has now been re-painted, and the front suspension is now re-assembled. The engine bay is pretty well finished now, and needs a few minor bits & bobs, but is basically ready for the engine. Here are some pics - of before, during and currently. More details as an when. |
