This little Clubby is my pride and joy. It started off as a modest little 1098 with 145x10 standard wheels, standard interior, drum brakes etc. I started off with a stage one kit and bucket seats, you know the usual boy-racer mods. Then I realised I was doing it the wrong way round, so I bought some Cooper S brakes with alloy calipers, as I wanted to keep the 10 inch wheels for handling and looks really. It also had a 2 core rad as the engine had a habit of getting hot at anything other than 30 mph! I then got the wheels for it, and finally upgraded to a fully rebuilt 1275 with Kent 266 cam, 1 3/4" carb, and centre oil pick up. It recently ran an 18.02 sec quarter mile at the Mini Showdown, which I was pretty impressed with really, although it will go faster once its been set up properly! The next thing due is a new front end (wings are going a bit crusty round the scuttle) and then a re-spray in its original Rheinhardt bronze, without the awful black stripe along the bottom of the doors! |
